Formal Proclamation of the Swadeshi Movement
On August 7, 1905, the Swadeshi Movement was formally proclaimed at a mass meeting in Calcutta Town Hall. The movement arose in opposition to the British decision to partition Bengal and promoted the boycott of imported goods together with the revival of indigenous products and production.
